This is Mary Newell, in the middle. Mary is one of our team members and has run over 50 marathons around the world…read her personal experience at Sunday’s MCM as she approached the hill before the finish line…this marathon is a life changing experience…
“I have to tell the story about this picture. The last .2 of the Marine Corps Marathon is uphill to the monument on the right. I ran into Donna, my friend who lives in England, in the last 3 miles of the race. She was waiting for me at the bottom of the hill so we could finish together. I started on the hill and my legs started to buckle, the guy in the picture took my right hand (a stranger), Donna took the left and we ran up the hill to the finish together.
Yesterday morning I was having breakfast with friends at the hotel when a woman asked me if I was wearing a pink shirt in the marathon. When I said yes, she said, “I have a picture of you.”
She was watching at the finish when she saw what happened and was amazed by how these two angels came to my aid. She had no idea she would ever see me again.
This is why I run!”
