Hello from Seymour Pink!
A year ago on Friday, March 12, 2020 we made a most difficult decision. We postponed Our annual “A Pink Night to Remember” scheduled for the next day on Friday, March 13, at The Waterview in Monroe, CT.
Never did we imagine it would be the first of almost all of our annual fundraising events to be modified, postponed or cancelled in 2020!
When it became apparent that the 2 to 3 week period of “flattening the curve” would extend to two or three months and then an entire year and then some, we obviously had serious concerns on how we would continue to fulfill our mission to lessen the financial burdens of those men and women currently battling the horrific effects of their breast cancer treatment.
Every nonprofit organization has, at its core foundation, the desire to have an impact in the community it serves, no matter their specific mission.
Realizing we would have to cancel a significant number of our major fundraising events for 2020 and fearing how we would continue to help those affected by their breast cancer diagnosis, we were humbled by a surge of support both financially and emotionally from our extraordinary community.
The number of new donors and the creativity of all our donors, individuals as well as businesses/organizations, have allowed us to continue to fulfill our mission and to impact the fight against breast cancer. It has been overwhelming!
You have helped us continue to impact our community and fulfill our mission during the most difficult, most uncertain times! THANK YOU!
As we head towards spring, we do see light at the end of the tunnel! The grip this pandemic has had on our lives is beginning to relax.
While federal, state and local mandates and restrictions seem to be loosening up, we continue to have the safety of our volunteers and attendees at our events as our primary concern. With that in mind, and knowing that most of our fundraising events we host for the year are hugely attended, we, unfortunately, have had to postpone some of our annual events till 2022.
We share with you our current plans:
- Our gift shop will remain open on Saturdays from 10am to 1pm.
- Our annual “A Pink Night to Remember” is scheduled for March 4, 2022, at the Waterview in Monroe, so save the date.
- We look forward to our annual pasta dinner at Brookside Inn in Oxford, returning in April 2022!
- Happily, we are planning for our annual golf tournament to happen this year, sometime during the summer with a date to be determined. Please stay tuned for more on that event.
- At this point our participation in the 46th Marine Corps Marathon in Washington DC Is on hold as the MCMO is planning a virtual only option as of now. If we do not participate in this year’s event, our team will move into the 47th annual MCM when it returns to a live event.
- Our 10th Annual Pounding the Pavement for Pink event is in the planning stages. It is scheduled for the first weekend/ Saturday in October. It will have a virtual component to it again BUT we are looking at it being a hybrid event depending on mandated restrictions as we move forward.
- Our Annual Seymour Pink day is Wednesday October 20, 2021!
We will continue to keep you informed of our events in 2021.
Lastly, although we have had to live “behind the mask” these last 12 months, the heart and soul of this community has continually brought hope and light to all of us!
“Once you choose HOPE, anything is possible!”
To all of our dedicated volunteers, supporters, sponsors and our brave heroes, our breast cancer survivors, we continue to be forever grateful for your commitment to the fight against breast cancer.
From all of us at Seymour Pink to each and everyone of you, may you continue to be safe and healthy!
