This is Mary Newell, in the middle. Mary is one of our team members and has run over 50 marathons around the world…read her personal experience at Sunday’s MCM as she approached the hill before the finish line…this marathon is a life changing experience… “I have to tell the story about this picture. The last .2 of the Marine Corps Marathon is uphill to the monument on the right. I ran into Donna, my friend who lives in England, in the last 3 miles of the race. She was waiting for me at the bottom of the hill so we could finish together. I started on the hill and my legs started to buckle, the guy in the picture took my right hand (a stranger), Donna took the left and we ran up the hill to the finish together. Yesterday morning I was having breakfast with friends at the hotel when a woman asked me if I was wearing a pink shirt in the marathon. When I said yes, she said, “I have a picture of you.” She was watching at the finish when she saw what happened and was amazed by how these two angels came to my aid. Seymour Pink, Inc. is a non profit organization that was founded in 2010 but the concept began in 2007 when Sara and Gary Morgatto, owners of the Brookside Inn in Oxford, agreed to host a pasta dinner to help raise money for a breast cancer walk that Mary Deming, founder of Seymour Pink, Inc., was participating in that year. The Morgattos have hosted Seymour Pink’s annual pasta dinner now for 11 years and in thanks and appreciation of their generosity, the Board of Seymour Pink has established a scholarship in their honor. This year the Board of Directors’ of Seymour Pink will be offering a $500.00 scholarship in the Morgattos honor to a deserving college bound student. Find the application...
