The 14th Annual Community Awards Program is going on now through March 17th! The Community Awards Program gives each Ion Bank customer the opportunity to vote for their favorite non-profit organization to help the Ion Bank Foundation give away $100,000. Enrolled non-profits, like us, will receive a donation of $25 from the Ion Bank Foundation for every vote for their organization… so every vote counts! It’s simple – vote for the charity of your choice – hopefully you pick us! Voting will take place from February 1st through March 17th. You must be an Ion Bank customer to vote. One vote per customer, however, for accounts with multiple owners, each owner may vote. Customers with multiple accounts may only vote once. Each customer can vote for only one organization. You can also open a new account with Ion Bank and become eligible to vote. The Seymour Pink Gift Shop is re-opening Saturday, February 4th after its winter hiatus. Join us Saturday, February 4th at 3 Franklin Street in Seymour from 10 AM to 1 PM to say hello, shop and save! New Valentine’s Day shirts will be available! For savings we’re offering 25% off your purchase (excluding brand new merchandise), 35% off any remaining holiday items, and a bonus 2022 Seymour Pink T-Shirt with all purchases. We are excited to announce that our 2023 Seymour Pink T-Shirt contest is now LIVE! This year we have increased the prize money to a $1,000 Scholarship if you are the winning designer. All Seymour students of Middle School, High School, or College age are welcome to submit their original artwork designs for consideration of this year’s shirt design award. Make a statement OR send a message about the Fight Against Breast Cancer through your T-shirt design! WHO IS ELIGIBLE? Full-time students living in Seymour, CT (this includes middle and high school students AND college students). Please no professional graphic designers. PRIZE AWARD? $1,000.00 scholarship bursary ENTRY FEE? $5.00 per entry (checks made payable to Seymour Pink, Inc.) DEADLINE? All entries must be submitted no later than Wednesday, March 22, 2023 CONTEST RULES? The applicant must be a SEYMOUR resident. Entrant must submit hand-drawn or computer generated artwork (submit electronic file if computer generated) on an 8.5” x 11” sheet of paper – artwork can be horizontal or vertical and does not have to take up the entire paper. Seymour Pink, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is pleased to announce its 2023 Event Calendar. Each year, the nonprofit hosts a variety of fundraising and community events including a pasta dinner, gala night, golf tournament and 5k Road Race. Our mission is to unite a community in the fight against breast cancer. Through fundraising efforts, our goal is to fund breast cancer research, provide education and to empower and assist breast cancer victims and their families. The first event will be A Pink Night to Remember held at The Waterview in Monroe, CT on Friday, March 31, 2023 from 6 to 10 pm. This event is a great way for our community to come together and celebrate our mission, honor survivors and enjoy a great night of food, drinks and comradery. Attendees receive a complimentary blush sparkling wine upon arrival and can enjoy a variety of cold and hot hors d’oeuvres and food stations, open bar and beer garden. The hallmark of this event is nearly 100 premium raffles and a silent auction. Tickets go on sale Sunday, February 12th at 12 Noon. Our 14th Annual Pasta Dinner will take place on Monday, April 24, 2023 at The Brookside Inn in Oxford, CT. This is the event that started it all. When founder, Mary Deming, set out to raise funds for her Susan G. Komen walk in 2007, owners Sara and Gary Morgatto agreed to host a pasta dinner to help her fundraising efforts. This year’s A Pink Night to Remember will take place on Friday, March 31, 2023 once again at the Waterview in Monroe. This premier event offers an evening to celebrate our organization’s mission in bringing a community together in the fight against breast cancer. With the exception of our 2022 event, historically, this event has been held on a Friday evening in March, and we are back to our regular schedule for this event in 2023! We hope you can join us for an important night out. This year’s event will be from 6 PM to 10 PM and offer complimentary cocktails, cold and hot hors d’oeuvres and stations, raffles, door prizes and a silent auction. Upon arriving you’ll check in to the right or left of lobby depending upon your last name, and receive your Door Prize ticket, and signature sparkling glass of pink before heading to your designated table. We take over the entirety of The Waterview with over 500 guests expected to attend, including additional space downstairs for mingling including a beer garden, photo booth and additional food selections. Sponsorships are available through January 31st. Businesses can sponsor this special evening with packages ranging from $500 to $5,000. It rained…volunteers showed up to work at 5 am… It rained …all our sponsors/vendors arrived to set up. It rained …Adam Rivers from iHeart, the voice of our 5K, arrived. It rained …runners, walkers and spectators assembled. It rained…the honor guard marched to the start line. It rained…Shay Marie Neary sang the National Anthem so beautifully her voice reaching the heavens…and then it STOPPED raining!!! Although the weather forecast told a different story all the way through 1 o’clock in the afternoon, with the start of the race came a stoppage of the rain, as if our loved ones who had fought the fight spread their wings and formed a canopy over us. The strength, fight and determination our breast cancer survivors embody, challenges all of us to do the same in the FIGHT… to NOT QUIT!! On Saturday, October 1, 2022, NO ONE quit! For many, the choice to stay home, because of the rain, was a difficult one to make. I truly believe that everybody wanted to be there, but for some, it wasn’t the right choice this year. For those that couldn’t make it, we still felt your spirit with us. In the end we will all struggle to find the words to describe our experience yesterday. Even collectively, we can’t put it into words. As one breast cancer survivor said to me “you have to be here, to feel it”! To each and every one of you that made the journey yesterday to be with us in person, volunteers, breast cancer survivors, vendors sponsors, runners, walkers, THANK YOU! YOU brought SUNSHINE to a day weather...
