Pounding the Pavement for Pink 5k

Join us the First Saturday each October!

Each year, on the first Saturday in October, we walk and run through Seymour in the fight against breast cancer.

Our 5k Road Race is a special event drawing thousands of runners, walkers and spectators all committed to one cause: honor & recognition of our loved ones who have heard the words "You have breast cancer"

The wave of pink heading down River Road as the race begins is a sight to be seen!

We encourage friends, family, and businesses to form a team. We have over 100 teams participating in years past - the community aspect and comradery of this event is unmatched.  Your support and donations will have a HUGE IMPACT on the men and women and their families victimized by this diagnosis. THANK YOU!!!

History of the 5k

In 2012, Seymour Tradition - a nonprofit organization in our town, whose focus is on teaching young girls the values of sportsmanship teamwork and discipline, asked Seymour Pink, Inc. if we would co-host a 5K race.

Seymour Pink was so excited about the offer to partner up with this fine organization. The 5K race Pounding the Pavement for Pink was born! In our first year, both of these non-profit organizations realized a total of $24,000. These monies have helped both Seymour Pink and Seymour Tradition advance our missions.

Since 2012, each year we have co-hosted this event, even through the pandemic, bringing the greater community together for a worthy cause.

The Course

Our 5k Road Race is a USATF Certified 5k Course that begins on River Road and travels down Derby Avenue near the Seymour Community Center, under route 8 and up a gradual incline past the Historical Society and Library, and back around to finish on a long flat stretch of Cedar Street & Derby Avenue.

The total ascent is approximately 170 feet. A representative elevation profile is shown below:

Throughout the course there is plenty to take in!  Our community rallies behind this event and you'll see tons of decorations & support out there cheering you on.

With a small loop in the center of the course you'll also pass by other participants!

Entertainment is available on the course as well - typically we have some musicians & DJ's to serenade your miles.

On course water is available at approximately Mile 1 and Mile 2.

The last half mile of the course is long & flat, perfect to kick it into top gear for an exciting finish.

Runners & Walkers are welcome.

No pets allowed on the course.
